Odey Asset Management LLP was founded in 1991 by Crispin Odey to focus on absolute returns at a time when most fund managers were embracing index relative returns. The Odey team recognised the de-skilling effects of indexation and was determined to keep research and judgment at the heart of the investment process. Odey Wealth Management (C.I.) Ltd was launched in 2008 to manage portfolios for offshore private clients by combining Odey’s proven asset allocation skills with the portfolio construction expertise of our team in Guernsey.

Our investment philosophy is based upon our belief that active asset allocation is the primary driver of portfolio returns. Many investment managers share this belief, but few have the courage of their convictions and most will maintain a portfolio asset allocation that is close to the benchmark. We devote considerable time and effort identifying the major themes and trends within financial markets and position portfolios accordingly (within the parameters agreed with each client at the outset).
